To avoid the sniper battle between Snake and the End get the sniper rifle early...
(after you exit the pains cave walk to the end-half of the stream you're trudging through and go to the left just past the second hovering century go to the armory to the right after killing the two ceturies you find and you'll get the sniper rifle)
... and take the sniper rifle from your backback before leaving the section.
End the cut-scene early and equip your sniper rifle and aim towrad the large steel shutter doors before the cetury pushes the ends wheelchair through the doors.
Execute a Head shot on the end and he will yell then explode. normally his chair will fly at you but it cuts a good 20 minutes off your game-time. and you also sacrifice the chance of getting the modified Nosgat tranquillizer sniper rifle.
you can get that gun by killing the end with THE tranquillizer .45 pistol and CQC ONLY. then find the package using the infared goggles it's in the middle of the stage.

To get sniper when u get out of cave after the pain go three quarters of way up open map u see a turn go up there and sniper will be in building
And then get this out go to nxt area then take out the end with it while he is being pushed away and u dont face him later. [by: Hi]
To beat volgin in 1 min use the knockout hankercheif this is just as good on the boss just get close and use and they flinch also you get the camos too when u beat them. [by: Hi]

When You Fight The End, Pause And Save Your Game
Then Turn Off Your PS2, Change The Date Settings To One Week Later And Load Your Then Snake Will Walk Upto The End And Say He Has Died Of Old Age [by: ash]
It's not that hard to beat The Sorrow. You have two options. One is to avoid all his attacks and after 100 soldiers, you will win. Or you can kill yourself by drowning and then few seconds after the "Snake is Dead" screen, click L2 and while you are on the revival pill, press Circle (while still holding on to L2 so you don't click "Continue").
